Are you majoring in mathematics or science?
Do you enjoy working with young people?
Consider teaching!
The TEAMS program has supported outstanding mathematics and science students in becoming high school math or science teachers through the Robert Noyce Teaching Scholarship. TEAMS Scholars receive generous scholarships, participate in collaborative field experiences, examine issues of equity in mathematics and science education, and complete coursework in mathematics or science education. In addition, TEAMS Scholars receive support to attend conferences with faculty mentors and participate in a community of educators dedicated to equity.
The TEAMS program offers scholarships of up to the full cost of attendance to undergraduate or post-baccalaureate students completing a math or science major. Scholars complete the degree in the major and additional coursework and experiences leading to initial licensure in North Carolina. In exchange for this support, TEAMS Scholars teach in a high-needs school or district upon graduation for two years per year for which they receive scholarship support. Please note that for the 2020-2021 year or after, funding is contingent upon ongoing funding availability.
The TEAMS Program is funded through the generous support of the National Science Foundation (NSF) through a national grant program called the Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program. NSF supports a variety of programs that develop outstanding science, technology, engineering, and mathematics majors to become K-12 mathematics and science teachers. (DUE: 1540830)
